Kent State did everything right in the first half at Temple. The Golden Flashes, seeking their first bowl bid since 1972, took a 10-9 lead into intermission. KSU quarterback Spencer Keith was at the forefront of the strong start, completing 17-of-29 passes for 237 yards.

Then, suddenly things changed when Keith was knocked out of the game with a separated right shoulder on Kent State's second play from scrimmage in the third quarter. The true freshman is ruled out for the regular season finale.

"We were going up and down the field in the first half, and it's a shame Spencer couldn't finish the game, because I thought he was on his way to doing something really special," said KSU head coach Doug Martin.
